I
see my paintings as archeology in reverse.
An
archeologist reveals the details of how a people
lived by carefully removing layer after layer of
dirt and artifacts from a site.
Similarly,
in my works patterns and other painted artifacts
are offered to the viewer in layers.
For
me, my paintings evoke the slow, accumulated and
interactive effects of weather, erosion and the
visual marks of generations of peoples’ lives
playing themselves out on a wall. .
